CONCORD, CALIF. (May 1, 2012) — UFCW Local 5 and UFCW 8-Golden State announced early Tuesday morning that Raley’s has denied a contract extension with the union, forcing negotiations to come to a halt. As a result of Raley’s actions, the unions will be scheduling meetings to discuss and vote on the company’s last, best and final offer as well as to authorize a strike.

The picket lines are in front of the Fresh & Easy stores at 4410 Mack Road and 2538 Watt Ave.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (Friday, Dec. 9, 2011) — Following in the footsteps of tens of thousands of retail grocery workers employed by Ralphs, Albertsons and Vons, an overwhelming majority of Food 4 Less workers have indicated they will strike unless Kroger, their employer’s parent company, proposes a wage and benefit package that fairly reflects their contributions to the company.

As recommended by the Union leadership, the members employed by Stater Bros. Markets voted to approve an agreement that was reached with negotiators from Locals 8, 135, 324, 770, 1167, 1428 and 1448.
This is a pooled vote of all the local unions in Southern California.

ROSEVILLE, CALIF. (Oct. 5, 2011) — UFCW 8-Golden State President Jacques Loveall announced that Union volunteers established informational picket lines yesterday at a Nugget Market and a Walmart Supercenter in West Sacramento.
The Nugget Market is at 2000 Town Center Plaza and the Walmart Supercenter is at 755 Riverpoint Court.
