UFCW Member Resources

Members of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) have access to a powerful network of resources through their union and its affiliated organizations.

Everyday, UFCW Locals throughout the United States, bargain contracts, provide workplace advocacy and member assistance, resolve workplace conflicts and grievances. The AFL-CIO offers broader labor solidarity, political advocacy, and member education and the UFCW International Union supports members with health and safety guidance and industry-specific programs across grocery, meatpacking, retail, and healthcare sectors.

Through the UFCW International, the AFL-CIO and Union Plus, members also enjoy exclusive discounts and financial assistance covering mortgages, auto loans, insurance, education, and more — ensuring UFCW members are supported both on and off the job.

Union Scholarships

UFCW Discount College Program

The UFCW International Union has a NEW Discount College Program, replacing the prior program. Those previously enrolled in the prior program can continue, however, the fall semester will be the last one available through the old program.

This new discount program expands UFCW members’ access to a broader selection of participating colleges as well as degree programs spanning from certificates and associate to bachelor’s degrees. New to the program, we will also be introducing master’s degrees, providing even more opportunities for participants.

Northern California Meat Cutters Apprenticeship Program

The Northern California Meat Cutters Apprenticeship Program teaches Current Meat Apprentices how to become skilled, Certified Meat Cutters with a deep understanding of the industry standards for quality, food safety, sanitation, and commitment to retail excellence.

Medical and Pension Benefits

The UFCW and Employer Benefit Trust (UEBT), also known as the UFCW Trust manages medical and pension benefits for UFCW members working at numerous employers throughout Northern California. Click here for business hours and contact info.
